  • TAIT, ALTA FERNE (NEE HANSON) On the sad night of January 18, 2002, a wonderful woman passed away peacefully. Alta was a loving wife for 62 years to Alfred and a cherished mother of Linda (Hayward) Aiton of Westfield, Dolores (Philip) Whalen of Fredericton and Patrick Hughes of Fredericton. Born in 1913 to Howard and Evialena (Brewer) Hanson, Alta lived most of her life in Fredericton. At the time of death and on her 89th birthday, Alta was surrounded by family. She will be remembered by her sister Dolores of Miramichi City; her grandchildren Tony (Lisa) Whalen, Catonia Whalen, Patrick Whalen, Mandi (Jerry) Aiton-McGaghey, Kriss Aiton, Michael Hughes, Bobby Hughes, Debby Hughes, Shawn (Nathalie) Hughes and Paul Hughes; her great grandchildren Rene Hughes, Ashley Gibbs, Austin Page, Amanda Hughes and Vivian Whalen; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews too numerous to mention. Special thanks to all the staff of Windsor Court for their sincerity, empathy and caring. Friends and family will be received at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Monday, January 21, from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Bishop's Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow. The family requests that no flowers be sent. Donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
