MITTON, VINCENT ELLIS - The passing of Vincent Ellis Mitton occurred on Saturday afternoon, November 21, 2009. Born New Year's Eve of 1952, he was the youngest child for Margaret (Field) and Mervin Mitton. He attended the two room school in Apple River and the Advocate Composite School excelling in all subjects with averages in the nineties. The family moved to Penobsquis, NB in 1966 and Vince graduated from Sussex High School with excellence in "sports", not so much academics. He tried his hand at the armed forces, a chicken catcher and carpentry before he joined with Cementation to help build the shafts at the new potash mine. Under the watchful eye of a very competent foreman, he operated the clam with precision and purpose. When the mine went into production, PCS hired him with the construction crews underground. For the past several years, he was the loyal, honest and proud leader of "A" crew which he enjoyed to the hilt. He would do anything for his family, friends and co workers-as long as he believed in it. He will be thought of often by his family: his daughters, Rachel Mitton (Russell Golding) and their children; Caitlan Mitton at home, Jessica Carter (Jesse Nicholson) and their newborn; his sons, Duane Mitton and his children; Geremy Carter (Olivia Dunbar). He was like an older brother to his many nieces and nephews. To celebrate the life of Vince Mitton, everyone is invited to a gathering at St Paul's United Church, corner of Main St and Morrison Ave, Sussex NB at 1:00 pm on Tuesday November 24, 2009. After a brief memorial, you are invited to join us upstairs in the church hall for visiting and refreshments. To honour Vince's life, donations can be made at the funeral home to assist his daughter Rachel with her ongoing battle with cancer. The Honorary Pallbearers are Jim Monahan, Darrell McQuinn, Russell Brown, Jim Vandebrand, Rod Graves and Barry Buck. Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road Sussex, NB (506-433-2133). www.sussexfh.com
