McInerney was held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday November 18, 2009 with Father Alvin Westgate as the officiant and Barry Snodgrass as the musician. Donations in Mary's memory were made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society and the George Byrne Memorial Scholarship Fund. Interment took place at Fernhill Cemetery, following the interment a reception was held at the Funeral Home. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who visited, made donations, sent emails and attended services. DURDAN, JAMES EDWARD The funeral service for the late James Edward Durdan was held on Monday, November 16, 2009 at Castle Funeral Home. Pastor Dave McElhinney officiated the service. The organist was Christopher Lane and he accompanied niece, Carol Hayward in singing In the Garden, Just a Closer Walk with Thee and the Old Rugged Cross. Niece, Susan Hobson gave scripture readings and Tom Laskey provided the eulogy, which was written by daughter, Tina. The pallbearers included grandsons Tommy Keleher, Ryan Durdan and Josh Dugas, as well as Tom Laskey, Jimmy Hayward and Neil Hobson. Floral donations were received from Xerox, Team Curwin and family & friends. Memorial donations were received for the Animal Rescue League from family and friends. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery. There was a reception held at the Fallsview Family Reception Center, following the interment.

CROTHERS, MARY LOUISE The funeral of Mary Louise (Blanchard) Crothers, was held on Friday, November 13, 2009 from Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB where the service was conducted by Deacon Robert Friell. Readings were said by Dave Crothers and Mary Jean Crothers. The pallbearers were: Deson Crothers, Robert Crothers, Wayne Crothers, David Crothers, John Blanchard and Alan Blanchard. Donations made in memory of Mary Louise were given to: Rocmaura Foundation including one from the Board of Directors, Management and Staff of Rocmaura Nursing Home; Canadian Cancer Society including one from RST Industries Limited; Prostate Cancer Research Foundation of Canada and St. Joseph's Community Centre. Interment took place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

ARMSTRONG, RAYMOND EARLE (BING) At 2:00 pm on November 10th, 2009, Ray's family and friends laid him to rest at Fernhill Cemetery in Saint John. The family is grateful to the Reverend Canon Howard Anningson, and the choir of St. Jude's Anglican Church, 319 Lancaster Street, for a lovely funeral service. Ray's nephew, Jim Mason, delivered a moving eulogy paying tribute to a man who worked hard and did his best for those he cared about - his family, his friends and his community. Ray was carried to his final resting place by representatives of his grandchildren - Dean Gibbons (Sandra), Trevor Armstrong (Rick), Greg Armstrong (Wayne), Matt and Evan Donner (Chris), Jennifer Bonar (Pam), Craig Wilkins (Judy) and Michael Armstrong (Phil). Ray and his late wife Phyllis were always very proud of their children, grandchildren and their great grandchildren. The church was adorned by many beautiful floral tributes from family, friends and employers. Thoughtful donations in Ray's memory were made to many deserving charities: the Saint John Free Public Library, and P.R.O. Kids as well as the Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB; Canadian Cancer Society (Saint John); Saint John Regional Hospital Extra Mural Program; St. Jude's Church; Loch Lomond Villa Foundation; Animal Rescue League; Palliative Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital; Multiple Sclerosis Society (Atlantic Division); Gideon's International (Canada); Hampto P.R.O. Kids; and Romero House (NB). The Armstrong Family greatly appreciates the kind support they have received during this trying time and are especially grateful to the members of the Royal Canadian Legion who came to pay final tribute to Ray in recognition of his service to his country during World War II and to the staff of Brenan's Funeral Home whose dedication to service is unwavering.

THOMPSON, B. JEROME (JIMMER) - 89, died November 19, 2009 at Riverview Manor, Bath, New Brunswick. He was born March 9, 1920 in Woodstock, New Brunswick, the son of Dr. R.G. and Mary Thompson. Jimmer graduated from Woodstock High School in 1937 and Vocational School in 1938. He volunteered in World War II in 1939 and served in Canada and overseas as Lieutenant in the Canadian Artillery until 1945. He then attended UNB and graduated in 1949 as a Forestry Engineer. He taught at UNB as an assistant professor for one year and Maritime Forest Ranger School for three years. In 1953 he moved to Juniper to work as vice- president with Flemming & Gibson Ltd., Juniper Lumber Company Ltd. and Fraser Papers. He retired in 2005 at age 85. Jimmer is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Kathleen. He also leaves four sons, Robert, Joe, Andrew (Sharon) and Paul, and one daughter Megan (Charles) Kelley and four grandchildren Scott and Isaac Thompson, Christian and Ethan Kelley. There will be no visitation, a private service will be held at a later date. His family extends its sincere thanks to those who showed much kindness to Jimmer during his last months. He gave much of his time to many charitable causes in both Halifax, NS and St. John's, NL such as the Danny Gallivan Annual Golf Tournament for Cystic Fibrosis and The Newfoundland Rockers Group for the Vera Perlin Society. A member of the board of directors for The Halifax Club, Ashburn Golf Club, and Kings College, Hunter had a tireless, giving spirit that affected many lives. A benchmark of honesty, fairness, and goodwill, Hunter's calming, wise presence will be greatly missed by his family and friends alike. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 22 , 2009 from 1-4 and 6-8 pm at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Memorial service will be held on Monday, November 23 at 11am at Rockingham United Church, 12 Flamingo Drive, Halifax, NS. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of the members of the Medical staff, V.O.N., and Palliative Care involved in Hunter's care. ROY, NELSON - At the Edmundston Regional Hospital, November 20, 2009, Mr. Nelson Roy, 62, of Grand Falls passed away after a courageous battle with Diabetes. He was the husband of the former Shannon Stevenson. Born at Kedgwick in 1947, he was a son of the late Walter and Anne-Berthe (Belanger) Roy. Most of Nelson's working career was spent managing grocery stores. He owned and operated the IGA store and later the Save-Easy in Grand Falls prior to retiring due to ill health. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Brandon (Karen) of Muniac, Jason (Natalie) of Grand Falls and Jeffrey (Belinda) of Plaster Rock, eight grandchildren, brothers and sisters, Huguette Deschenes (Jacques) of Montreal, Felix of Halifax, Lily Soucy of Campbellton, Noella Blackburn (Michel) of Quebec, Colette Mallais (Raymond) of Moncton, Leon of Degelis, Qc, Leonce of Baie-Comeau, Qc, Romaric (Mary) of Saint John, half-brothers, Leigh Walsh (Suzanne) of Dalhousie and Mark Walsh (Helen) of Truro, NS, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Hubert and step-mother, Therese Roy. Resting at O'Regan's Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Blvd., Grand Falls with visiting hours Sunday from 7-9 p.m. and Monday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. His funeral service will be held Monday, November 23rd at 2 p.m. from the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, Grand Falls. JENKINS, ROOP - The death of Fred W. "Roop" Jenkins of Saint John, NB occurred on Monday, November 16, 2009 at his residence. Born at Saint John on December 13, 1931 he was the son of the late William R. and Jessie A. (Boone) Jenkins. Prior to retirement he was employed with the Canadian National Railways, and was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been predeceased by his parents and his sister, Betty Cooper. He is survived by his cousins, Delores Wadleigh, Helen Burke, Marilyn Smith, Priscella Howard, Richard Moore, and numerous additional cousins. Although there will be no visitation time, relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service, which will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 1:00 PM from the chapel of Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
